I Started my Look into Pharoah’s tracks with his
latest named THE NILE RIVER
FLOWS recorded 1 day ago The intro kicked in with
wutangesque kung fu samples, which although commonly used never get
old. Pharoah comes into this track like a kung fu master kicking the door off a bad guys hideout. although his quality isnt
quite up to scratch which sometimes made it difficult to hear properly the lyrical wizadry soon made you forget about the sometimes harsh sounding vocals. The lines and flow are skillfully put together with punches that would cave mike tysons face in. The only other bad
thing about this track is that just when you think your going to nod
your head off your shoulders its over. but this only made me thirsty for
more so i delved deeper into Pharoah’s page as
there is only five tracks on pharoah’s page i went
for the oldest THE SLEEPING
GIANT recorded 4 months ago again, although the quality
is quite bad, there is an undeniably strong flow on this track even
though it is hard to hear sometimes again i liked every thing until it
was cut short. So I moved on to a track called PROPH SMURPH DISS WARNING SHOTS I do like a
good diss track, but my own preference for a diss track involves
humour and personal facts about the opponent twisted in the mcs favour. Which this didnt seem to contain as i dont know the history of this
‘beef’ i cannot tell if there was some subtle subliminal jabs that i just wont pick up on as i dont know the other mc. but
all in all the track only lasted around 30 seconds and seemed to only
contain very general lines. I apologise if i am mistaken but i can only go
on what i hear so if there is some subliminal personal stuff in
there ignore that comment. But again there was a lack of humour which i
feel is an important element in ridiculing someone. CONCLUSION Overall Pharoah
needs to work on his quality on his vocals, maybe buy a better mic or
get a better recording area where he can stay further away from the mic and
still be heard. Also he needs to try and personalise his lyrics a bit
more as i leave his page i still feel like i know nothing about him
personally. BUT there is no
denying that even if pharoah hasnt got the most original
style, he is still a VERY strong lyricist with a
flow that could easily test some of wu tangs finest, his metaphors
are amazing and the first track i heard left me feeling breathless. SO pharoah just keep doing you and work on that
quality, try your hand at making a full, personalised track, and find
something that sets you apart from the rest. But I can tell that you have a
lot of potential and still so much to give. Thank you
